JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the Respondent-State.

(2.) Petitioner, in this writ application, has prayed for a direction upon the Respondents to consider the petitioner's case for his promotion to the post of Headmaster and for a further direction to pay him the officiating pay in respect of the post of Headmaster on which he was made to work from 17.10.1998.

(3.) The admitted facts of the petitioner's case are that he was initially appointed as an Assistant Teacher in the Government School. Subsequently, on and from 17.10.1998, when the post of Headmaster fell vacant, he was asked to take up the post as the In-charge Headmaster of the School. The petitioner was all along discharging functions of the In-charge Headmaster of the School but he was not paid the officiating pay for the work, which was discharged by him.
