JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the Vigilance.

(2.) The petitioner has been made accused for the offences under Sections 406, 409, 420, 423, 424, 465, 120 -B of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 11, 12, 13 and 15 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, in connection with Vigilance P.S. Case No. 11 of 2009 corresponding to Special Case No. 15 of 2009.

(3.) The case relates to infamous seeds scam in the State of Jharkhand, in which, it is alleged that the State officials, by entering into criminal conspiracy, had placed orders for purchase of seeds of vegetables and food grains from M/s NERAMAC and other companies, by whom substandard seeds of vegetables and food grains were supplied and thereby the public fund amounting to Rs.20 to 22 crores was defalcated and misappropriated by the accused persons, including the Ministers and higher officials of the State Government in the Department of Agriculture.
