JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard counsel for the parties.

(2.) Petitioners in this writ application, have prayed for a direction upon the respondents to pay them compensation for their lands, possession of which is claimed to have been taken over by the respondents in contemplation of the acquisition of the land way back in the year 1988.

(3.) As it appears from the pleadings of the petitioners, after issuing a notice declaring their intention to acquire the lands of the petitioners, the respondent authorities of the Minor Irrigation Department, had taken over the possession of the lands and had even started utilizing the same for irrigation purposes. The land acquisition proceeding was initiated at that time, but till date, no amount of compensation has been paid to either of the petitioners.
