(1.) The case of the petitioner is that he passed the Secondary School Examination, 2016 as a student of All Saints Sr. Sec. School affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). In the mark-sheet of the said examination issued by CBSE on 28.05.2016 the name of his father was recorded as 'Lalit Kumar' and his mother as 'Kiran'.
(2.) An application was filed by the petitioner to the Board for correction in the name of his mother in the said mark-sheet from 'Kiran' to 'Sunita Devi'. That has been rejected by the CBSE on 11.08.2017. Hence this petition.
(3.) Mr. Dharmendra Sharma counsel for the petitioner submitted that owing to sheer casualness, carelessness and ignorance of the consequence of error in giving out the second name of the mother of the petitioner by which she is addressed at home in the School and the form for the Secondary School Examination, the petitioner is faced with a situation of the mismatch of his mother's name in the Secondary School certificate/mark-sheet on the one hand and other documents relating to the petitioner where his mother's name recorded is her official name, i.e. 'Sunita Devi' on the other. It has been submitted that in the mark-sheet of the petitioner's brother-Thakur Das Lohere who also passed the Secondary School Examination in 2014 from the same school as the petitioner studied, the mother's name is indeed recorded in the mark-sheet issued on 20.05.2014 as Sunita Devi. It is another matter that the surname of his brother, father and mother 'Lohere' has also been recorded which is at all no so in the petitioner's case. But the surname is not the issue in the petition.
