(1.) ON special motion being made by some of the counsels of this Court on 1st October, 2007, this matter came up under the heading "To Be Mentioned" today.
(2.) IT was reported that due to incessant and heavy rain, water logging is still continuing in many parts of Patna town of which Kankarbagh and Rajendra Nagar were worst affected. It was also informed that in other parts of Patna town, there was heavy water accummulation and no measures were taken by the authorities to come to the rescue of the public at large by draining out the accummulated water. Today, it is also reported by some of the counsels of this Court who are residents of different areas of Patna town that though water has receded in many parts of Patna town, water logging is still continuing in Kankarbagh areas and some parts of Sri Krishnanagar areas.
(3.) TWO set of affidavits have been filed today; one on behalf of the Urban Development Department and the other on behalf of Patna Municipal Corporation stating therein that due to some unavoidable circumstances i.e. non -supply of electricity as it was disrupted due to felling of electric poles and trees etc., immediate measures could not be applied but no sooner the power supply was restored, the authorities did their best to start the pumping houses to drain out the stagnated water which resulted in draining out of water to much extent. It is also stated in the affidavits that by tomorrow, there will be complete draining out of stagnated water from different parts of the town provided electric supply remains uninterrupted.
