(1.) This writ application has been filed, under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, in the nature of Public Interest Litigation, seeking direction to the respondents to lay down guidelines for disposal of matters/cases relating to land disputes in the State of Bihar on priority basis. It is the petitioner's case that because of delay in resolution of land dispute matters, law and order situation, in the State of Bihar, has worsened, which has given rise to spurt in institution of criminal cases.
(2.) We have heard Mr. Sunil Kumar, learned counsel, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Mr. Roy Shivajee Nath, learned Additional Advocate General-3, appearing on behalf of the respondents-State of Bihar, and also Mrs. Binita Singh, learned counsel, appearing on behalf of the respondent No.6.
(3.) A supplementary affidavit has been filed today on behalf of the petitioner, making certain suggestions, which, according to him, can be considered by the State Government for expeditious disposal of the matters relating to property disputes.
