(1.) THE petitioner is lodged in Central Jail, Bhatinda, as an under-trial prisoner for the last more than one year and one month in connection with a case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. At present he is on ad interim bail granted to him in Criminal Writ Petition No. 1706 of 1988 upto October 6, 1988 to enable him to take examination for the Oriental Titles and Modern Indian Languages of the Panjab University. While on ad interim bail, the marriage of his sister was fixed and the same is to be solemnized on 7-10-1988. In these circumstances, the petitioner has prayed for extension/further ad interim bail to enable him to arrange the marriage of his sister. He has stated in the petition that his father has since died and his mother is an old lady and except him there is no other adult male member in the family who can make arrangements for the marriage of his sister. In support of his prayer, he has filed wedding invitation card, Annexure P-1, and a writing from the gram panchayat of village Sivia, District Bhatinda, Annexure P-4/1, regarding the factum of the marriage of his sister. Miss Ritu Bahri, learned counsel appearing for the State, is not able to file reply because of shortage of time. After hearing the learned counsel for the parties, ad interim bail of the petitioner is extended upto 14-10-1988. Dasti.
