JUDGEMENT

(1.) The petitioner retired as Assistant Junior Engineer on 31.8.2007. His grievance is that till date he has not been released his pensionary benefits. The petitioner had submitted a representation which has been rejected vide order Annexure P-6.

(2.) A perusal of order (Annexure P-6) shows that the pensionary benefits of the petitioner are not being released as there are departmental proceedings pending against the petitioner. Reliance has been placed by the competent authority on Rule 2.2(c)(i) of the Punjab Civil Services Rules Chapter 2, Vol, II.

(3.) In view of the aforementioned facts we direct respondent no.2 to conclude the departmental proceedings against the petitioner expeditiously, preferably, within six months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and thereafter consider the case of the petitioner for release of his remaining pensionary benefits. Writ petition disposed of. Order accordingly.
