SUNITA RANI Vs. S S S BOARD PUNJAB

Decided On March 21, 2007
SUNITA RANI Appellant
V/S
S.S.S. BOARD Respondents

JUDGEMENT

(1.) BOTH the petitioners in the instant writ petition claim appointment to the post of Mathematics Mitress from amongst the femalegeneral category. The petitioners were, however, not being permitted to participate in the process of selection in view of the certain conditions depicted in the advertisement dated 11.06.2006, which made them ineligible to participate in the process of selection. When the petitioners approached this Court by filing the instant writ petition, by our order dated 13.07.2006, they were permitted to participate in the process of selection provisionally. The result of the petitioners has been produced in Court today in a sealed cover. The sealed cover has been opened. A perusal of the result of the petitioners reveals that petitioner No.1 Sunita Rani was awarded 100.97 marks in the process of selection, whereas petitioner No.2 Sushma Devi was awarded 105.5 marks in the process of selection. It is also the contention of the learned counsel for the respondents, on instructions from Mr. Balwant Singh, Superintendent, office of the Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab, that the last candidate selected and appointed against the post of Mathematics Mistress from out of the female-general category and had been awarded 146.83 marks.

(2.) IT is, therefore, apparent that the petitioners do not fall within the zone of selection for appointment against the post of Mathematics Mistress from the female-general category. In view of the above, we find no merit in this petition and the instant writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed.
