JUDGEMENT

(1.) In the present writ petition, the petitioner has challenged the action of the respondents in not granting the benefit of Old Pension Scheme on the ground that the appoiintment was offered to the petitioner after 1/1/2004.

Learned senior counsel apppearing on behalf of the petitioner fairly submits that after filing off the present writ petition, the Governmeent of Punjab, Department of Finance has issued a Notificatioon dtd. 22/5/2025, whereby employees, like the petitioner, has been held entitled for benefit of Old Pension Scheme. He further submits thhat a similarly situated employyee had filed a writ petition CWP-11266-2024 titled as Amandeep Singh Vs. State of Punjab before thiss Court. In the abovesaid case, the respondents had filed an affidavit to an extent that the petitioner (in CWP-11266-2024) is held entitled foor grant of benefit of Old Pension Scheme. On the basis of affidavit filed in the abovesaid writ petitiion, the writ petition was not pressed byy the petitioner therein. Learnedd senior counsel submits that the case of the petitioner in the present writ petition is also covered by the abovessaid Notification dtd. 22/5/2025 passed by the Government of Punjab and as such, on instructions froom the petitioner, he submits that the peetitioner would be satisfied, if att this stage, direction is given to responddent No.2 to consider and decidee the case of the petitioner for grant of Old Pension Scheme in a time-bouund manner.
