(1.) IN view of the statement made by appellant Moti Singh, who is present in the Court, it is apparent that this is a glaring instance of exploitation of weaker section of the society. Admittedly, the appellant was about 55 years old when he married respondent a girl of 20-22 years of age. The appellant has categorically stated that his marriage with the respondent was solemnised because he paid Rs. 10,000. In these facts and circumstances, it is high time for the Courts to come with a heavy hand so as to bring an end to the miseries of illiterate women folk of the society, particularly the attempts to treat them as chattels and articles of possession in accordance with concept of medieval era. It is the appellant who has to be blamed for the miseries he brought upon himself in the evening of his life. Rather such miseries meted to a young, illiterate and innocent girl are highly deplorable and needs to be condemned.
(2.) FOR the observations made above, this appeal is dismissed with costs quantified at Rs. 10,000. Appeal dismissed.
