JUDGEMENT

(1.) THE appeal is for enhancement of claim for compensation for death of a male, aged 18 years in an accident that took place on 21.10.1996. The deceased was said to be a Carpenter, earning Rs. 2,900/ - per month. The claimant was the mother. The Tribunal assessed the compensation at Rs. 1,60,400/ - by taking the income at Rs. 2,000/ -.

(2.) IN a case where the deceased was merely 18 years of age, I would take Rs. 2,000/ -, as assessed by the Tribunal, as only a notional income of what income he would have earned after he had regular employment. I will, therefore, not make any prospect of increase on a notional income and reassess the compensation and tabulate the various heads of claims as under: -
