(1.) THE appeal is for enhancement of compensation for death of a male aged 25 years. He was said to be a medical student studying in Russia and drawing a stipend of Rs. 15,000/ - per month. The claimants were parents and three sisters. The Tribunal assessed a compensation of Rs. 5,91,000/ - by taking the monthly dependence at Rs. 4000/ - and applying a multiplier of 12.
(2.) I will rework the compensation taking the income of what he would have earning after becoming a medical professional as Rs. 7500/ - per month, providing for deduction for 50% towards personal expenses and applying a multiplier of 18. I will not make any separate provision for sisters for in the presence of the parents, there is no scope for the sisters to claim as dependence on their brother.
