(1.) THE petitioners of their own solemnized their marriage amongst themselves. However, they apprehend danger to their life and liberty from respondents No. 4 to 6 who are brothers and mother respectively of petitioner No. 1. The petitioners had a liking of each other for the last three years. Their relationship came to the knowledge of the brothers and mother of petitioner No. 1 and they got agitated over their relationship. They then tried to forcibly marry of petitioner No. 1. Petitioner No. 1, it is stated is a major. The date of birth of petitioner No. 1 -Manjeet as per her affidavit (Annexure P -1) is 01.01.1984 and the date of birth of petitioner No. 2 -Deepak as per the certificate (Annexure P -2) of the Board of School Education Examination, Haryana Secondary Examination is 10.05.1993. The petitioners belong to the same caste. Therefore, they solemnized their marriage according to Hindu rites and rituals on 30.05.2014.
(2.) LEARNED counsel for the petitioners submits that the marriage was solemnized at Shiv Mandir, Manimajra, U.T. Chandigarh. Photographs (Annexure P -3) of the marriage have been placed on record. In view of the threats held out to the petitioners by respondents No. 4 to 6, they submitted a representation dated 02.06.2014 (Annexure P -4) to the SHO, Police Station, Chandni Bagh, Panipat (respondent No. 3) and representation dated 02.06.2014 (Annexure P -5) to the Superintendent of Police, District Panipat (respondent No. 2) to protect their life and liberty. Despite the said representation, the threat to them persists. Both the petitioners are present in Court and are identified by their counsel. It is stated by the petitioners that they have solemnized their marriage with each other of their own free will and desire and without any kind of pressure or undue influence. It is also stated by the petitioners that they were not earlier married. Besides, they are happy with their marriage.
