JUDGEMENT

(1.) The appellant was convicted under Section 302 IPC vide order dated 01.03.2002 for committing murder of Jasbir Kaur and sentenced to imprisonment for life.

(2.) The FIR (Ex.PE) was registered on 21.08.1999 on the statement of Ranjit Singh, father of deceased Jasbir Kaur, in which he stated that his daughter Jasbir Kaur was living at the house of his fatherin-law Jagga Singh son of Hazura Singh, Jat, resident of Badiani Patti for the past 7-8 years and was studying in 7 th Class in the Government School for Girls, Longowal. One day before the occurrence, he and his brother Amar Singh had gone to village Longowal. On 21.08.1999, while he and his brother Amar Singh were in the house of his in-laws, at about 8.30 p.m., when they were talking to each other, the courtyard was well lit by electric bulb and his father-in-law Jagga Singh and mother-in-law Mukhtiar Kaur had gone to Gurdwara Sahib, his brother-in-law Sukhmander Singh @ Mundree, armed with a ghope, came from outside and just after coming, immediately gave 5-6 ghope blows to his daughter who was sitting on the bed at that time. He gave 2 ghope blows on the right cheek of his daughter, one on lower lip, one on the chin and two blows were given on the neck. His daughter raised hue and cry. When they came forward to catch hold of the appellant, he fled away waiving the ghope and his daughter Jasbir Kaur succumbed to the injuries at the spot.

(3.) The motive for the crime was that the appellant had suspicion about the character of his daughter.
