STATE OF PUNJAB Vs. SMT. GURCHARAN KAUR

JUDGEMENT

(1.) The controversy here is with regard to the date of birth of respondent Gurcharan Kaur who held the post of Block Primary Education Officer, Kapurthala.

(2.) The relevant facts as they emerge from the material on record are that on Oct. 20, 1954, Gurcharan Kaur was appointed as Untrained Teacher in the erstwhile State of Pepsu. For the purpose of this appointment, she gave her date of birth as 2-5-1990 (B.K.) which is equivalent to May 18, 1933.

(3.) While in service Gurcharan Kaur passed the Junior Teachers Training Examination of the Punjab Education Department in 1955-56 and according to the certificate of passing it, which was issued on July 19, 1956, her date of birth was again shown to be May 18, 1933.
