(1.) Sukhbir Singh, the petitioner has sought leave to appeal under section 378(4) Cr.P.C. against the order of acquittal dated 10.6.2010 passed by Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Sonepat in a complaint case brought for an offence punishable under sections 500, 504 and 506 IPC.
(2.) Briefly speaking, the case is that a news item was published in Dainik Tribune dated 3.4.1998 regarding an incident of 2.4.1998. In the news item, it was reported that a girl and a boy who were in love with each other, committed suicide by taking poison. Other details about their biological relatives had also been published. Though, the couple in love had not been named nor there was reference to their parents, yet the complainant has claimed that the villagers came to know of the persons involved in the same and in the eyes of people of the village, their image has been lowered. He has claimed that when he talked to the respondent in this regard, he was abused by him and was threatened of being killed.
(3.) The complaint was filed against Vijay Sehgal and Alok Mehta also, but the complaint against them had been quashed by this court.
