JUDGEMENT

(1.) PRAYER made in the instant petition is for the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners, which is stated to be in danger at the hands of respondent Nos.4 to 10. The petitioners have contracted marriage on 10.07.2012 against the consent of their parents. As per the documents, Annexure P-1 and P-2, the petitioners are major. They are apprehending their arrest by the police.

(2.) IN pursuance of the order dated 17.07.2012, report from SHO, P.S. Kotwali, Kapurthala, has been filed in the Court, which is taken on record. As per the report, petitioner No.1 is Malkit Kaur and is major, which is reflected in the ration card, Annexure A-1.

(3.) IN view of the above, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala, to look into the application (Annexure P-4) and take all necessary steps, in accordance with law. The petitioners, who are lodged in the Protection Home, Sector 19, Chandigarh, are set at liberty.
