JUDGEMENT

(1.) FIR No.38 dated 5.5.1999 was registered against the petitioners at P.S. Dasuya under Sections 406/498-A IPC.

(2.) The Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Dasuya, vide his judgment dated 7.1.2009, convicted the petitioners in a case arising out of the aforesaid FIR for an offence under Sections 406, 498-A IPC and ordered the petitioners and one Tejinder Kaur to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and to pay a fine of Rs.500/- and in default of payment of fine, to further undergo rigorous imprisonment for one month, in each of the offences. All the sentences were ordered to run concurrently.

(3.) On appeal, one of the accused namely Tejinder Kaur was acquitted of the charges, whereas the order of conviction and sentence qua the petitioners was upheld vide judgment dated 9.11.2011 passed by the Additional Sessions Judge, (Adhoc) Fast Track Court-II, Hoshiarpur.
