HARJOT SINGH Vs. STATE OF PUNJAB AND ANOTHER

JUDGEMENT

(1.) The present petition has been filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on behalf of petitioner, namely, Harjot Singh for quashing of F. I. R. No. 25 dated 12.02.2011 under Sections 406 and 498-A IPC registered at Police Station City Rupnagar, Punjab, on the basis of compromise arrived at between the parties.

(2.) Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that there is a matrimonial dispute between the parties and the same has been settled by way of compromise and the respondent No. 2-complainant has no objection in quashing of the FIR, in question, and subsequent proceedings arising therefrom.

(3.) As per directions issued by this Court vide Order dated 31.05.2012, the statements of the parties were recorded by the trial Court, wherein, the parties have specifically stated that they have entered into compromise and report in this regard has been sent along with statements of the parties. It has further been stated therein that the compromise is genuine and there was no pressure upon the parties from either side.
