JUDGEMENT

(1.) PREM Chand Sharma petitioner filed this Writ Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India whereby he seeking the issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus to the State of Punjab directing them to release the amount of Rs. 19170/ -deducted from the amount of gratuity of the petitioner payable to him but it was not paid to him. He has also claimed interest on this amount at the rate of 18% per annum.

(3.) IT is stated by Mr. Namit Kumar, Advocate for the petitioner that persons similarly situated have already been disbursed the amount of gratuity on their furnishing indemnity bonds. Petitioner has however, not been disbursed the aforesaid deducted amount of gratuity.
