JUDGEMENT

(1.) This petitioner has impugned the office order dated Jan. 30, 1988, vide which the Principal, Government College, Ludhiana allowed Miss Punam Dhir, who had been selected as Lecturer in English by the Punjab Public Service Commission, to join her duty on Jan. 30, 1988 (F.N.)and relieved the petitioner of his duties as Lecturer in English on adhoc basis.

(2.) Admittedly, the petitioner was appointed as Lecturer in English on adhoc/temporary basis for a period of six months. Respondent No. 1 wanted to relieve such lecturers although they had put in service for a number of years. Government Colleges Temporary Lecturers Association filed writ petition in the apex Court assailing the policy decision of the State Government. The apex Court issued the following directions:-

It is pointed out that following the direction of this Court on Aug., 24, 1987 in W.P.No. 317 of 1987, regular recruitment has been made and candidates are now available to report to duty on being appointed. It is said that new 35 people who had been selected have resigned from their jobs elsewhere to join on being appointed.
