JUDGEMENT

(1.) Bikkar Singh defendant has filed this appeal against the judgment and decree dated 9.10.1978 passed by District Judge, Sangrur.

(2.) The straight case of the plaintiffs-respondents was that they were owners of the suit land and that the defendant-appellant Bikkar Singh had taken forcible possession thereof. This suit was resisted by the defendant-appellant. He not only denied the ownership of the plaintiffs - respondents ever the suit property but also claimed ownership thereof by adverse possession. He emphasised that he was in possession of the suit property from the year 1952-53 when the consolidation proceedings took place in the village.
