JUDGEMENT

(1.) This application has come before us for hearing today. The applicant who was working as Appraiser (Metal Expert) with the Customs Department at Calcutta complains that he has been removed from service by an illegal order of punishment, dated 30.6.1988 passed by the Disciplinary Authority.

(2.) The respondents have not filed any reply to the application in spite of having been given several opportunities to do so. We must deplore this. We had, therefore, to proceed with the matter without any reply.

(3.) We have heard Mr. Sabir Ghosh for the applicant and Mr. D. N. Das with Mr. C. R. Bag for the respondents.
