JUDGEMENT

(1.) This is an application for final judgment in a suit for recovery of rent of a shop room by a Receiver appointed by this Court. The only objection taken is that the Court has no jurisdiction to entertain it as the amount claimed is Rs. I,344/-.

(2.) It was argued that in view of the deletion of Section 21 of the Presidency Small Cause Courts Act and the substitution of a new section in its place the jurisdiction of the High Court is taken away when the claim does not exceed Rs. 2,000/-. The old Section 21 provides as follows :
