(1.) The respondent was a teacher in a government-sponsored school, having been appointed on 1st April, 1985. His service was approved on 1st April, 1987. His date of birth as recorded in the records of the School was 16th January, 1956. Now, by this recorded date of birth he was to retire on 31st January, 2016.
(2.) After some sixteen years of service on 9th July, 2001 he applied to the Board of Secondary Education for correction of his age in its records. It was also recorded there as 16th January, 1956.
(3.) The Board realised its mistake and in 2001 itself corrected the date of birth of the respondent to 16th January, 1959.
