(1.) None appears on behalf of the petitioner. No accommodation is sought for.

The revisional application has been preferred against the judgement and order dated 08.04.2005 passed by the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, Fast Track Second Court, Barasat, North 24 Parganas in Sessions Trial No. 14(7) of 2004 (Sessions Case No. 43(5) of 2004) wherein the learned trial court was pleased to acquit the accused / opposite party nos. 2 to 5 from the charges under sections 498A / 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
(3.) The prosecution case in short is that the victim was married to the accused Ananda on 17.02.1991 as per Hindu Rites and Customs. After marriage Ananda and his family inmates started to inflict physical and mental torture upon the victim on various pretext. The basic reason as alleged is that the accused Ananda developed an extra marital relationship with a married woman and the victim repeatedly raised protest to such act of Ananda. As a result she was severely tortured by the accused and the other in-laws. It is also alleged that the accused persons demanded money from her parents and the same being denied she was often subjected to mental cruelty with threat of being driven out of the house and not providing food. On 13.10.1998 at about 06.30 AM the complainant received information that the victim received severe burn injuries at her in-laws house and she was admitted to the Medical College and Hospital. The complainant states that before his arrival the victim succumbed to her injuries and as such the information was registered with the concerned police station.
