JUDGEMENT

(1.) Report is perused wherefrom it appears that the appellant has already served out the substantive sentence imposed upon him. Nobody appears on behalf of the appellant.

(2.) Mr. Dipanjan Dutt, learned counsel is requested to assist the Court as amicus curiae.

(3.) The appellant was convicted for commission of offences punishable under Sections 376/417/493 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for ten years and to pay a fine of Rs.50,000/- and to suffer rigorous imprisonment for five years and to pay a fine of Rs.1000/-, in default, to suffer rigorous imprisonment for three months more and to suffer rigorous imprisonment for six months and to pay a fire of Rs.1000/- in default, to suffer rigorous imprisonment for three months more for the offences punishable under Sections 376, 493 and 417 of the Indian Penal Code respectively. All the sentences were to run concurrently and the fine of Rs.50,000/-, if deposited, was directed to be paid to the victim as compensation.
