Decided On July 23, 1973
MEENA JANAH Appellant
V/S
DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF TOURISM, (HEADQUARTERS) HOME (TOURISM) DEPARTMENT, GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL AND OTHERS Respondents

JUDGEMENT

(1.) This is an application made by the petitioner inter alia for a writ in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to forbear from proceeding in pursuance of an order dated Dec. 24, 1970 a copy where of has been annexed as annexure'M' to the petition and also for quashing the said impugned proceedings as well as the order of suspension dated Dec. 10, 1970, passed on the petitioner, a copy whereof has been annexed as Annexure 'N' to the petition.

(2.) The petitioner was appointed in or about April, 1962, as a Hostess to attend tourists and travelling passengers in the luxury tourist coaches of the Tourist Organisation of the State of West Bengal temporarily for a period of six months in the beginning and thereafter was made quasi-permanent and then permanent in or about Jan. 1968.

(3.) I shall later advert to the conditions of service of the petitioner. It appears that in or about March, 1970, the respondent No. 6, who was then the respondent No 5, passed an order that the Hostesses including the petitioner would work generally on coaches in chartered trips by private parties.
