JUDGEMENT

(1.) No one has appeared on behalf of the State Respondents when the matter is called on.

(2.) The issue in this writ petition is whether delay in release of gratuity of retired teachers and non-teaching employees of Aided Non-Government Schools attracts interest and if so, at what rate.

(3.) Gratuity becomes payable immediately on retirement. There can be no doubt that delay in payment of gratuity would attract interest. This has been the consistent view taken by different Division Benches and Single Benches of this Court.
