(1.) THE present appeal has been preferred by the State of West Bengal against the judgment and order of acquittal dated 15.02.2000 passed by the learned Additional Sessions Judge, Burdwan in Sessions Case No. 16 of 1999 (Sessions Trial No. 30 of 1999) thereby acquitting the accused persons of the charges under section 498 -A/302/304 -B of the Indian Penal Code.
(2.) CHALLENGING the same judgment and order of acquittal the aforesaid revisional application was also preferred by the de facto complainant, which is also taken for disposal along with the present criminal appeal.
(3.) THE prosecution case in brief is that the victim Juin Chakraborty (nee Mukherjee) was given in marriage with Jayanta Chakraborty (Present respondent No. 1) on 29.1.97. Jayanta is the son of Gourisankar Chakraborty of City Centre, Durgapur and Nitin Mukherjee (P.W.14) is the father of the victim Juin. After marriage Juin went to her matrimonial home and stayed there for few days. Thereafter she went to Berhampore and stayed in a hostel for completing her studies. She finally came to her matrimonial home after passing her B.A. Examination. The trouble started thereafter. It was alleged that she had to cook food for all and to do other household works and whenever there was any slip Juin was scolded, abused and mentally tortured.
