JUDGEMENT

(1.) In his application the petitioner who is the Officer in-charge of Keraya Police Station challenges an order of transfer which Is Annexure 'B' to the petition.

(2.) The facts of the case may be briefly noted. The petitioner entered service as a Sub-Inspector in Calcutta Police sometime in 1958. After undergoing training for one year at the Barrack-pore Police Training College, the petitioner was posted as a Sub-Inspector on probation on the 2nd January. 1959. The petitioner was confirmed in the said post on the 2nd Jan., 1960.

(3.) Thereafter, after being posted at various Police Stations and also in the Detective Department and the Special Branch of the Calcutta Police, the petitioner was promoted to the post of Inspector of Police in Nov., 1973. Thereafter the petitioner served in the Security Control Organisation, Special Branch and Vigilance Commission. On or about the 17th Sept., 1979 the petitioner was sent to the Hastings Police Station on Hospital Leave Vacancy. The petitioner was permanently posted on the 6th Dec., 1979 as Officer-in-charge, Hastings Police Station.
