SANJIT SUR Vs. STATE OF WEST BENGAL

JUDGEMENT

(1.) The present petitioner along with two others have been facing their trial of a charge under Sections 468/471 of the Indian Penal Code in connection with G.R. Case No. 141 of 1993 before the Learned Judicial Magistrate, 5th Court, Barrackpore, 24-Parganas (North). Now, the petitioner has moved this criminal revision for quashing of the aforesaid case on the ground of delay in conclusion of the trial.

(2.) Heard Mr. Saumya Bandyopadhyay, learned advocate appearing for the petitioner as well as Ms. Minoti Gomes, learned advocate appearing for the State.

(3.) It may be noted that at the very outset Mr. Saumya Bandyopadhyay, the learned advocate of the petitioner abandoned his prayer for quashing and prayed that the Trial Court might be directed to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible because the trial is pending for about 17 years.
