JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard Mr. Arijit Bhowmik, learned counsel appearing for the petitioners as well as Mr. SD Choudhury, learned counsel appearing for the respondent Nos. 1 and 2. None appears for the respondent Nos. 3, 4 & 5.

(2.) Shorn of unnecessary details, I propose to refer only to the facts relevant to decide this writ petition. The petitioners herein had applied for the post of Junior Reporter in pursuance of an advertisement dated 27.05.2017 issued by the Tripura Legislative Assembly, the respondent Nos. 1 and 2 herein. The petitioners became successful in the typewriting and shorthand test and consequent thereto, they were asked to appear for the written test as well as viva-voce test.

(3.) In the call letter dated 24.10.2017 it was informed to all the participating candidates including the petitioners that the written test was to be held for 10 marks with breakup being 5 marks for english and 5 marks for Bengali and 20 marks were allotted for viva voce. When the petitioners appeared in the written test on 08.11.2017 they found that the total marks allocated for written test was for 50, which, the petitioners came to learn for the first time on the date of examination. It is in this background, the petitioners have challenged the selection process of the successful candidates who have been impleaded as respondent Nos. 3 to 5 in this writ petition.
