JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard Mr. Ratan Datta, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner as well as Mr. N. Majumder, learned counsel appearing for the State-respondents.

(2.) The petitioner has filed this writ petition claiming reliefs that the period of service he was officiating, should be counted for all intents and purposes. The petitioner is a degree holder engineer and had joined the service as Junior Engineer (Civil) TES Grade-V (i) on 30/11/1993 in the Public Works Department (PWD in short). Later on, the petitioner vide memo dtd. 4/6/1999 was appointed on promotion to officiate as Assistant Engineer (Civil) on adhoc basis for six months in the scale of 2010-5000, which was extended time to time till his regularization to the said post on 14/7/2006. The petitioner had served the department as Assistant Engineer (Civil) on adhoc basis uninterruptedly for a period of seven years w.e.f. 1999 to 2006 till his regularization. The grievance of the petitioner is that the State-respondents did not give the benefit of service, he rendered, as Assistant Engineer (Civil) on adhoc basis uninterruptedly during the said period.
