(1.) Affidavit dated 18-04-2019 filed by MSPCB reveal that its officials have collected water samples on 07-03-2019 at four locations. After analysis, found to confirm to the acceptable limit of drinking water. Furthermore, Oil and Grease could not be detected in the water samples.
(2.) Learned Amicus Curiae has also filed affidavit stating therein that the State authorities have taken positive steps for implementation of various recommendations of the Expert Committee on Water Quality Issues of Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme but however, some time frame has to be fixed for ensuring implementation.
(3.) Learned Addl. AG has today produced copy of a letter No. PHE.167/2018/92, dated 02-04-2019 along with Status Report on implementation of the recommendations (e) and (f) of the Expert Committee on Water Quality Issues of Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme, same is taken on record. Details of the recommendation have been made mention of with special focus on recommendations (e) and (f). The Engineering Department has shown complete eagerness and seriousness. Keeping in view the details as have been made mention of in the Status Report, positivity is quite apparent. According the learned Addl. AG he is under instruction to submit that minimum six months' time shall be required for implementing the recommendations of the Expert Committee, particularly, recommendations (e) and (f) in its real spirit.
