JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard Mr. Sanjeev Singh, learned counsel for the petitioner as well as Mr. Ashutosh Singh, learned Standing Counsel.

(2.) The petitioner has challenged the order dated 29 August 2014 whereby the petitioner's claim for extension of his service after the date of his retirement for another two years has been rejected.

(3.) The petitioner retired from the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Urdu in Government Raza P.G. Degree College, Rampur on 30 June, 2014. The petitioner has claimed to be a recipient of 'State Award' i.e. Shikshak Shree Samman-2011, from the State Government, on account of which he sought the extension of two years of service from the date of his superannuation (inclusive of session-end benefit). The State award given to the petitioner is not disputed. The core question for consideration is from what date the two years period of extension of service is to be counted, i.e. either from the actual date of superannuation or from the date of end of academic session.
