JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for the State and perused the record.

(2.) The petitioner claiming himself to be an adopted son of late Naubahar Singh has filed this writ petition with the following prayer:

It is contended that the father of the petitioner died on 28.12.1997 and after his death, the petitioner had filed an application on 6.1.1998 before the respondent No. 2, Executive Engineer, Electricity Distribution Division, Dhampur, District Bijnor for appointment on compassionate ground under the provisions of U.P. Recruitment of Dependants of Government Servants Dying in Harness Rules, 1974 ('hereinafter referred to as the 'Rules of 1974'). The claim of the petitioner has yet not been decided by the respondent No. 2.
