PUNJAB AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY Vs. SANDEEP PAL SINGH

JUDGEMENT

(1.) SANDEEP Pal Singh, respondent -complainant got admission in B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) for the session 2006 -07 under Farmer Sponsored Category in the college of appellants and deposited a sum of Rs.2,28,000 as admission fee for the 1st year. Thereafter the respondent got admission in Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSC) in Guru Angad Dev University under Farmers Sponsored Category . Guru Angad Dev University is also situated in the premises of appellant No.1. The mother of respondent moved an application dated 1.6.2007 for refund of Rs.2,28,000 which was not accepted by the appellants. It was informed vide letter dated 7.9.2007 that only a sum of Rs.1,410 can be refunded as security amount.

(2.) IT was further pleaded that Daljit Singh Bhullar, father of respondent moved an application dated 21.6.2008 under Right to Information Act, 2005 in which the appellants informed that the seat vacated by the respondent stood filled up.

(3.) HENCE the respondent filed complaint in the learned District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Ludhiana (in short the District Forum) seeking refund of Rs.2,28,000. Compensation, interest and costs were also prayed.
