(1.) This public interest litigation has been filed by a resident of Nandambakkam, Tiruvallur District. Prayer in the public interest litigation initiated by the petitioner is to call for records with respect of Tender Notice published by the Commissioner, Tiruvallur Municipality / respondent herein, in the Newspaper dated 05.02.2019, Na.Ka.No.4955/20178/H1 and to quash the same.
(2.) The grievance the petitioner is that for the purpose of solid waste management, Tiruvallur Municipality has issued tenders to undertake the cleaning work in and around the Municipality areas.
(3.) Petitioner states that originally tenders were called for on 15.06.2018. In the tender, which was issued on 15.06.2018, for Ward Nos.1 to 16 in the Tiruvallur Municipality, the cost for supply of 62 labourers was estimated at Rs.3.74 crores and for Ward Nos.22 & 23, for supply of 44 labourers, it was estimated at Rs.1.75 crores. This tender was cancelled for reasons not known to the petitioner.
