JUDGEMENT

(1.) This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the second respondent to grant permission and protection for cultural event namely 'Adalpadal' scheduled to be held on 02.07.2018 at night 09.00 to 12.00 hours in connection with "Kumbabishekam Festival" in Arulmigu Sri Vinayagar Sri Kaliamman Kovil at Chinnaputhur Village, Kulithalai Taluk, Karur District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 11.06.2018.

(2.) Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

(3.) Though the larger relief is sought for in this writ petition, the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner is now restricting his prayer by stating that it would suffice that if a direction is issued to the respondents only to grant permission to conduct the "Adal Padal" programme.
