(1.) The petitioner in W.P.(MD).No.14059 of 2018 seeks a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 6 to protect the right to worship including the celebration of Mahasivarathiri Festival and other festivities and rituals as is allowed to the bulk of the other worshippers every year to the petitioner community people in the public temple of Arulmigu Kaattu Karuppanna Samy Thirukovil, Maravankulam Village, Thirumangalam Taluk, Madurai District, without showing any racial discrimination by caste or creed.

The prayer in W.P.(MD).No.4422 of 2018 is to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 4 to give necessary police protection to the Masi Kalari family god [Kula Theiva Valipadu] festival to be celebrated by the petitioner and his community people in Arulmighu Kattu Karuppanasamy Kovil, Maravankulam Village, Tirumangalam Taluk, Madurai District, from 01.03.2018 to 03.03.2018 or on any other suspicious day as may be permitted by the official respondents and connected festivities.
(3.) The case of the petitioner in W.P.(MD).No.14059 of 2018 is that his community members are known as 'Vannars' also called 'Moopan' community. The seventh respondent, belonging to 'Pillaimar' community, a caste Hindu group, sought to prevent the petitioner from celebrating Maha Sivarathiri festival in Arulmighu Kattu Karuppanasamy Kovil, Maravankulam Village, Tirumangalam Taluk, Madurai District.
