(1.) ON 9.9.2003, when the matter came up for admission, notice was ordered by the Division Bench with a direction to post this appeal for orders after two weeks and it has been listed today. Notice to the respondents being served, they are represented by counsel.
(2.) BY consent of both the counsel, today the main civil miscellaneous appeal has been taken up.

THE salary of the deceased has been proved by filing Ex.B7, which is the income certificate given by the Commissioner of Ranipet Municipality, to indicate that the deceased Masilamani, had earned Rs. 4, 353/- per month. THE deceased is entitled to work till he reaches 58 years. THErefore, the Tribunal has correctly adopted the multiplier of 18. THE Tribunal also took note of the possibility of increment in salary and the increase in the cost of living and rounded off the monthly earning to Rs. 4,500/-. Deducting 1/3rd towards his personal expenses, the Tribunal has correctly arrived the compensation at Rs.6,48,000/-. We are inclined to reduce only Rs.20,000/-, which was awarded to respondents 2 and 3, the married daughters, towards loss of love and affection. In other aspects, there is no interference. Accordingly, the award of the Tribunal Stands reduced to Rs. 7,20,000/-.
