JUDGEMENT

(1.) IN view of the direction sought for in the writ petitions, the Secretary to Government, Department of Social Welfare Nutrition (NMS) Department, Secretariat, Chennai, is suomotu impleaded as fourth respondent.

(2.) THE petitioners are working as Drivers in the Noon Meal Project Offices in the fourth respondent department. The date of entry into service, the date of grant of Selection Grade, the date of grant of Special Grade and the date of retirement in service of the petitioners are given below:

ACCORDING to the petitioners, the Drivers belonging to various departments, who are similarly situated come to this Court and obtained orders for Selection Grade pay in 5000-150-8000 and Special Grade pay in 5500-175-9000. Those orders are produced before this Court. The petitioners have prayed for grant of 5000-150-8000 as Selection Grade pay and 5500-175-9000 as Special Grade pay as per G.O.Ms.No.162, Finance (Pay Cell) Department, dated 13.04.1998 as given to other drivers by virtue of various orders of this Court.
