JUDGEMENT

(1.) THIS appeal is filed against the conviction for an offence under Section 3(1)(x) of SC/ ST ( Prevention of Atrocities) .

(2.) THE case of the prosecution is that on 13.9.1993 at about 5 PM at Pilichikuzhi village, the respondents / accused within public view scolded P.Ws 1 to 5 with vulgar words by mentioning the name of the community to which they belong. Therefore, the charges were framed against the accused and the Sessions Court convicted the 1st accused/ appellant herein and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for a period of one year and also to pay fine of Rs. 100 in default to suffer R.I for one month. The other accused were acquitted. Against the conviction of A1, the present appeal has been preferred.
