JUDGEMENT

Lord Curzon, architect of the path breaking Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1904, which is the forerunner to the Ancient Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 (24 of 1958), while speaking at the annual meeting of the Asiatic Society of Bengal in the year 1900, has observed as follows:
