V SHOBA Vs. REGISTRAR DR AMBEDKAR LAW UNIVERSITY

Decided On January 11, 2011
V.SHOBA Appellant
V/S
REGISTRAR, DR. AMBEDKAR LAW UNIVERSITY Respondents

JUDGEMENT

(1.) THE petitioner herein seeks for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the 2nd respondent to allot a seat to her either in Business Law or Property Law Branch of M.L. Course in the college of the 2nd respondent, based upon the representation dated 15.12.2010.

(2.) WHEN the matter was taken up, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that though the petitioner should have been accommodated in the Business Law Branch of the Course, it could not be done so since selection to a particular Branch of the Subject in the Post-Graduate Course was based on the marks secured by the candidates in the Bachelor Degree (B.L.) Examination, thereby, the petitioner, who was at 11th rank in the open competition category, was not considered for either of her options viz., Business Law or Property Law. It is, however submitted that, presently, there is a seat vacant in M.L. Property Law Branch and the respondents are willing to allot the said seat in favour of the petitioner, who herself opted for the same if she was not to be considered for Business Law Branch.

(3.) WRIT Petition is ordered accordingly. No costs. Connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
