JUDGEMENT

(1.) Heard learned advocate Mr. Rushab Munshaw for the petitioner and learned Assistant Government Pleader Mr. Manan Mehta for the respondent State and its authorities.

(2.) Following are the prayers made in this petition,

The petitioners who are Constables, Class­IV and who, according to them, have completed more than fifteen years of service on the post and possess CCC examination certificate, applied for the post of Police Sub­Inspector, Mode­2 pursuant to the advertisement dated 05.12.2015 issued by the Gujarat Sub­ Ordinate Services Selection Board. The process of recruitment was governed by the Rules under the notification dated 10.09.2014 and framed under the provisions of Section 5 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, called as Gujarat Police Sub­Inspector (unarmed branch) Special Competitive Examination Rules, 2004, amended as per Gujarat Police Sub­Inspector (unarmed branch) Special Competitive Examination (amendment) Rules, 2014.
