(1.) Heard Sri.P.B.Sahasranaman, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and Sri.P.C.Sasidharan, the learned standing counsel appearing for the University of Calicut.
(2.) The petitioners appeared for the First Professional MBBS Examination conducted by the University of Calicut in August 2009. The petitioners failed in Physiology, Papers I and II. They have therefore applied for revaluation of their answer scripts by submitting Exts.P1 to P3 applications. It is submitted that the requisite fee has also been paid. The petitioners submit that they had done well in the examination and that they are sure to secure a pass if their answer scripts are revalued. They also submit that without passing the First Professional MBBS Degree Examination, they cannot attend the second year classes of the MBBS course. On this ground, the petitioners seek expeditious revaluation of their answer scripts.
(3.) Sri.P.C.Sasidharan, the learned standing counsel for the University of Calicut submits that the pass percentage for the First Professional MBBS Degree Examination is below 61% in all the Medical Colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut taken together, that a large number of candidates are likely to seek revaluation, that the last date for submission of applications for revaluation was 18.11.2009 and that the University will revalue the petitioners' answer scripts and communicate the result to them expeditiously.
