JUDGEMENT

(1.) The petitioners seek protection for their lives from the alleged threats and intimidation from respondents 7 to 10. According to the petitioners, respondents 7 to 10 are close relatives and that they are acting in collaboration with the 8th respondent, who had removed large amount of earth from their property, thus causing the lateral support to the petitioners' property to be completely lost.

(2.) The petitioners say that when they protested against such actions, they were attacked by respondents 7 to 10 and that they have made a complaint about such attack to the police, a copy of which has been placed on record as Ext.P4.

(3.) The specific allegation of the petitioners in this writ petition is that the police, instead of investigating the complaint, are harassing them and they allege that this is on account of the influence respondents 7 to 10 have over the concerned Police Officials. They, therefore, pray that they be afforded police protection and also for an additional relief that the police Authorities be directed not to harass them.
